Ray Meints’ tips for Final Cut Pro

Ray Meints is an Emmy Award winning videographer/editor, with more than 25 years experience in Television news and production.  He is currently a Sr. Videographer/Editor with NET TV, the PBS affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska.  In addition, he worked for more than 16 years for WOWT TV in Omaha and is a past board member of the NPPA representing Region 9.
This seminar will have a little of something for all levels of video editors.  You will learn the cool stuff – “Tips & Tricks” – with Final Cut Pro/Express, that hopefully will make your editing experience a little more efficient and enjoyable.  There will also be a short seminar on “Organization”.  It may not be sexy, but you must be organized with your projects, and this session will discuss Ray’s system and its value to today’s photojournalist.  Finally, be prepared to bring your questions.  Ray can talk all day about Final Cut “Tips & Tricks”, but if you don’t find solutions to your problems, then you have gained nothing.  There will be plenty of time devoted to finding answers to the questions that have stumped all of us at one time or another.

Travis Heying’s “The Miracle of Father Kapaun”

This former Cornhusker has worked at the Wichita Eagle since 1997. He earned a reputation as an extremely hard-working and versatile still photographer while covering Iraq, Afghanistan, Hurricane Katrina and many other stories for the Knight-Ridder’s war coverage team. He was already having success writing and photographing stories because he saw the end of “the one-trick pony” in the industry. His long-form documentary, “The Miracle of Father Kapaun,” incorporated a unique visual aspect to a traditional newspaper series. The documentary was sold as a DVD and shown numerous times on Wichita’s local PBS affiliate.
